Meet the Orthodontist
Dr. Paul Healy
Dr Paul Healy is a Hobart boy, living all his life in Hobart until he left to study dentistry at the University of Melbourne after finishing school. After graduating as a Dentist, Paul joined the Navy, where his love for the water grew, and he treated patients at Sea, as well as on Navy bases. Paul then completed a stint in the UK working for the National Health Service seeing public patients, before working in private practice in Sydney. In 1999 Paul was accepted into a three year Doctorate in Orthodontics at the University of Adelaide, being mentored by well renowned orthodontists who he still keeps in contact with, and culminating in his research thesis on the impact of orthodontic treatment on nerves. Upon applying for orthodontics Paul remembers being asked “why him” to which he answered he wanted to return home and treat those in his local community. True to his word, Paul returned to live in Tasmania with his wife and young family in 2005 and established Healy Orthodontics. Paul has dedicated himself to treating Tasmanians exclusively since then, including travelling to Launceston monthly for 20 years to make treatment more accessible there. For the last 20 years Paul has volunteered at the Royal Hobart Hospital as the Orthodontist in the Cleft Palate clinic.
Outside of orthodontics, Paul is a husband and Dad of four. On most mornings at 5.30am you will find him on the River Derwent, where he volunteers as a rowing coach at schools and a rowing club.
Paul’s motivation and sole focus is always to achieve the best possible treatment outcome for his patients. He is a member of the Australian Society of Orthodontists, and is registered as an Australian qualified and trained specialist Orthodontist.

What Sets Us Apart?
Convenience
Healy Orthodontics operates from two offices, one in Hobart on New Town Road and the other in East Launceston on High Street, which helps to minimise the travel time for our patients. The convenience of two ultra-modern practices in close proximity to Hobart and the heart of Launceston, allows patients to schedule an appointment at whichever location best suits their needs.
Comfort
We help ease the nerves at every step of the process; working hard to ensure both of our practices provide a clean and comfortable environment. Our staff pride themselves on their high level of care, assisting where needed. We practice pain-free orthodontics and understand how to provide a relaxed environment for patients of all ages.
Cooperation
Dr. Paul Healy and his staff have developed inter-personal relationships with all patients, which involves remembering your name, your interests, and how to keep you comfortable throughout your dental treatment. Your care experience also includes step-by-step education about your treatment so you can work with Dr. Paul Healy to make the right decisions for your care.
